Moonstream is applying for the 2024 Google Season of Docs.
Projects ideas
Our main project idea is Generalizing Moonstream user guide, but we’re open to new project ideas like:
- Moonstream documentation audit and reorganization
- Creating product tutorials for Moonstream

- Moonstream, currently on v2, was first launched in 2021. We provide LiveOps tools for web3 games. Game developers and game designers use Moonstream to reward their players and incentivize player engagement. Our tools let them see what players are doing on-chain (joining games, completing quests, etc.), make leaderboards based on that data, and distribute rewards (like tokens and loot boxes) to the players at the top of the leaderboards. We handle these crucial but often daunting elements of web3 gaming so that devs can focus on their core gameplay. (And sometimes we help with that, too.)
- Our contributors are
Python
, Go
, and Solidity
developers. Our users are blockchain games creating sustainable game economies that run on game mechanics, production, and leaderboard events rather than on hype and new players coming in. We also are working in collaboration with a big web3 gamedev organization to bring a gaming inventory on chain.
About Generalizing Moonstream User Guide Project
Problem
We're growing faster than we can grow our documentation. This leads to gaps in two areas:
- Growth in clients and client needs – After launching, it was immediately clear that there was a need for our tools in this space. We found a client (a major game) right away. At first, we worked closely with a handful of big clients. Now, as more studios seek us out, we are working with smaller projects with fewer developers and with projects without experienced web3 developers. We want to make our tools more accessible to them, and we want to make our products more self-serve so that our team can keep up with the growing demand for our tools.
- Growing tool set – All of our tools are open source. We want game devs to be able to try them out and use them with no friction, but we often fall behind on adding user-friendly documentation. We want our potential users to be able to test and use our tools freely without having to get in contact with our team.
The project's scope
The Generalizing Moonstream User Guide project will:
- Formulate a clear description of Moonstream’s general scope of products and their value
